Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy has drawn widespread appreciation after giving out millions of naira to fans during a surprise cash giveaway on X. On Sunday, October 25, the Mavin Records founder described the gesture as a “small El Niño,” inviting Nigerians to share their account details, the amount they needed and what the money was for.
Reported transfers ranged from ₦500,000 to ₦2 million, with recipients seeking assistance for rent, school fees, medical bills and business expenses. Several beneficiaries flooded the producer’s replies with emotional messages, thanking him for easing their financial burdens. Don Jazzy later said he was returning to work but promised to continue the giveaway.
The gesture comes as Nigerians face reports of extreme heat, with temperatures reportedly reaching 41°C in parts of northern Nigeria. Don Jazzy has previously supported fans facing personal and financial difficulties, and his latest giveaway has renewed conversations about celebrity generosity and the impact of direct financial assistance. However, the report does not establish that the giveaway was a response to the heat itself.
