Osimhen Shines as Player of the Match in Galatasaray’s Win Over Lille
Victor Osimhen was named Player of the Match after scoring in Galatasaray’s thrilling 4-2 victory over Lille in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The Nigerian striker delivered an impressive performance against his former club, helping the Turkish champions secure their first points of the 2026/27 campaign.
UEFA’s Technical Observer Group praised Osimhen’s intelligent movement, ability to create space for teammates and constant threat to Lille’s defence. He sealed the victory with a right-footed finish in the 61st minute, recording his first Champions League goal of the season after failing to score in Galatasaray’s opening two matches.
Despite his decisive contribution, Osimhen acknowledged Lille’s strong performance and admitted that the French side made Galatasaray work hard for the win. He also praised the home supporters and wished his former club success in its upcoming matches.
