Ebola: Tinubu Government Activates Emergency Measures After Imported Case
The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the country is prepared to contain Ebola following the detection of an imported case. Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, gave the assurance on Wednesday after an emergency meeting of the Presidential Task Force on Ebola Preparedness and Emerging Public Health Threats at the State House, Abuja.
Gbajabiamila said surveillance systems helped identify the infected passenger, who reportedly developed symptoms four days after arriving in Abuja. Health Minister Ali Pate disclosed that contact tracing, isolation measures and hospital preparedness had been activated, with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, World Health Organisation and Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention supporting the response.

The government urged Nigerians to cooperate with health officials, follow public health guidance and avoid spreading unverified information that could cause panic. Authorities said response teams were working to prevent further transmission, drawing on Nigeria’s experience in containing Ebola in 2014. Officials also stressed the need for public cooperation to strengthen surveillance and protect communities nationwide.
