Hardship: Wike-Backed PDP Challenges Tinubu, APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has criticised President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The faction accused the ruling party of shifting responsibility for Nigeria’s economic hardship onto the opposition instead of addressing the difficulties confronting ordinary citizens.
Tinubu reportedly made the remarks during the APC presidential campaign flag-off at Kaduna Township Stadium on Saturday, blaming the opposition for the hardship his administration was tackling.
Reacting to the president’s comments, PDP National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Haruna Mohammed insisted that the opposition was not responsible for the economic difficulties Nigerians currently face.
Mohammed described Tinubu’s remarks as an attempt to evade accountability, arguing that the APC-led government should concentrate on addressing the country’s worsening economic and social challenges.
The PDP faction urged the federal government to prioritise affordable food, agricultural support, domestic production, employment opportunities, improved security and measures to strengthen Nigeria’s economy.
It also called for stronger efforts against corruption, better electricity supply, lower transportation costs and policies capable of restoring the purchasing power of ordinary Nigerians.
The faction rejected attempts to use the PDP’s sixteen years in government to justify the current administration’s shortcomings, insisting that Nigerians deserved accountability from their leaders.
According to the party, more than ten years of APC rule should provide sufficient grounds for Nigerians to demand explanations about the government’s achievements and policies.
The faction argued that previous administrations’ records could provide historical context but should never become permanent excuses for the decisions and performance of the government currently in power.
It maintained that every administration should face scrutiny based on its policies, achievements, decisions and the actual living conditions of the people it governs.
The PDP faction said Nigerians wanted practical solutions to rising living costs, food insecurity, unemployment and insecurity rather than prolonged political arguments over responsibility for national problems.
It expressed confidence that voters would assess political parties according to their performance, proposed policies and commitment to improving citizens’ welfare ahead of future elections.
The faction further claimed that growing dissatisfaction with the APC reflected Nigerians’ desire for better governance, improved living conditions and a more secure, prosperous country.
Reaffirming its position, the PDP faction challenged the ruling party to stop blaming political opponents and implement measurable policies capable of delivering meaningful relief to struggling Nigerians.

It insisted that the Tinubu administration must accept responsibility for its economic record and provide a credible recovery strategy addressing food security and citizens’ welfare.
