Rotimi Salami Takes Nollywood to Canada and US
Nollywood actor and filmmaker Rotimi Salami is taking his latest film, KILANKO: The Invincible Child, beyond Nigeria, with international screenings scheduled in Canada and the United States. The film, which premiered in Nigerian cinemas on March 6, 2026, was screened in Toronto on September 10 as part of its North American rollout.
Directed by Allwell Ademola, the movie features Salami alongside other Nigerian actors. Ademola died before the film’s theatrical release, giving the international journey an added emotional significance as Salami continues to promote the project and honour her contribution.
The move reflects the growing ambition of Nollywood filmmakers to take Nigerian stories to global audiences through cinema screenings, festivals, streaming platforms and diaspora communities. For Salami and the team, KILANKO represents another opportunity to showcase Nigerian storytelling and talent beyond the country.
