NFF Urges Flamingos to Keep Winning Momentum Ahead of Mexico Clash
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has charged the Flamingos to maintain their winning momentum as they prepare to face Mexico in the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. Acting NFF General Secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme praised the team following their impressive 3-1 victory over North Korea, which secured their place in the knockout stage.

During a visit to the team’s training session on Monday, Ikpeme urged the players to remain focused and approach the Mexico encounter on Thursday, October 29, with determination. He also promised to attend the match to support the Nigerian youngsters as they pursue a place in the quarter-finals. The Flamingos have scored six goals in three matches, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Oluebube Umejiaku contributing two goals each.

The meeting against Mexico brings together two nations with strong histories at the U-17 Women’s World Cup. Nigeria won bronze in India four years ago after defeating Germany in a penalty shootout, while Mexico claimed bronze at last year’s tournament in Morocco by beating Brazil on penalties. The Flamingos will now look to build on their group-stage performance and keep Nigeria’s hopes alive.
