Linda Ikeji Debunks Viral N250m Price Tag on Margaret Obi’s Hermès Bag
Popular Nigerian blogger Linda Ikeji has weighed in on the controversy surrounding a luxury Hermès bag spotted with Margaret Obi, wife of Labour Party politician Peter Obi, dismissing claims that the bag is worth N250 million.
Linda, who said she owns several high-end designer bags, urged Nigerians to “relax,” insisting that the widely circulated price was inaccurate. Her comments came after photos of Margaret Obi carrying what was identified online as a Hermès Kelly 35 in Malachite sparked heated debate.
The controversy gained political attention as critics linked the alleged price to Peter Obi’s reputation for fiscal discipline and his 2023 campaign message about reducing the cost of governance. However, there is no evidence that Margaret Obi bought the bag at the cited retail price, with speculation that it could have been gifted, borrowed or acquired through other means.
The debate has continued online, with Nigerians reacting to Linda Ikeji’s intervention and demanding to know the actual value of the bag.
