Atiku Faces Fresh Political Setback as Son Supports Tinubu’s 2027 Ambition
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to reconsider his presidential ambition following his son’s decision to support President Bola Tinubu.

The party’s Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, made the call after Abba Abubakar declared support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Abba recently unveiled plans to mobilise support for the president across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones ahead of the 2027 general election.
He also announced plans to organise a two-million-man march nationwide to strengthen Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Abba, founder and chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), had earlier defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to the development, Agada described the situation as unfavourable political optics for Atiku, who is seeking the presidency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a post on X, Agada wrote: “A very bad optics. AA should give up his ambition at this point.”
Atiku remains one of the prominent opposition figures challenging Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
