Mexico have booked their place in the knockout stage after a hard-fought 1–0 win over South Korea.

Luis Romo scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute, pouncing on a goalkeeping mistake following a defensive collision to slot into an empty net.

The victory sees Mexico finish top of Group A and secure their first-ever group-stage win at the World Cup.

Canada delivered one of the standout results of the tournament, sweeping aside Qatar 6–0 to claim their first-ever World Cup win.
