CAF Awards 2026: Super Falcons, Uzoma and Two Nigerian Stars Shortlisted
Nigeria’s Super Falcons and three young female footballers have been nominated in different categories for the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards.

The nominations place Nigeria among the countries represented in the women’s football categories ahead of this year’s awards ceremony.
The Super Falcons secured a place on the shortlist for the Women’s National Team of the Year award.
Their nomination comes despite an underwhelming performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Nigeria’s hopes of retaining continental dominance ended in the quarter-finals after Cameroon defeated the Falcons before winning the championship.
The team also missed out on qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
In the individual categories, Falconets goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma is among the nominees for the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Her selection follows a notable performance at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup held in Poland.
Uzoma will compete against Cameroon’s Michaely Bihina, the WAFCON 2026 Golden Glove winner, alongside four other African goalkeepers.
The remaining nominees are Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi, South Africa’s Andile Dlamini and Ghana’s Cynthia Konlan.
Nigeria has secured two additional nominations in the Women’s Young Player of the Year category.
Falconets striker Janet Akekoromowei and Flamingos forward Oluwakemi Adegbuyi are both shortlisted for the individual honour.
Their nominations further strengthen Nigeria’s presence in the women’s categories of the 2026 CAF Awards.
Winners will be decided through votes cast by the CAF Technical Committee, media representatives, national team captains and coaches.
The 2026 CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled for Monday, December 7, in Lagos, Nigeria.
