Senator Yakubu Lado Says Katsina Needs Concerted Effort to Address Its Challenges
Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke has called on residents of Katsina State to join hands in addressing the challenges confronting the state, describing the situation as requiring a collective effort.
In a report by Channels Television, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate made the remarks while receiving members of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who defected to the PDP and declared support for his 2027 governorship ambition.
At least 5,000 APM members were reported to have joined the PDP at the gathering. The defectors said their decision followed consultations and their confidence in Lado’s leadership, humanitarian activities and commitment to the welfare of residents.
While welcoming the new members, Lado identified insecurity as the state’s greatest challenge. He promised that restoring peace would be a major priority of his administration if elected governor in the 2027 general election.
He also pledged to revive key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure. According to the report, he said his administration would work towards improving the condition of these sectors and making them functional.
Lado urged residents to support the PDP’s efforts to rebuild the state, calling on them to participate in addressing the problems affecting their communities. He said the responsibility should not be left to one group or individual.
The senator maintained that the challenges facing Katsina required cooperation among residents and other stakeholders. He appealed to the people to wake up, join hands and contribute to efforts aimed at changing the situation.
He also criticised the state’s leadership, alleging that the welfare of residents had not received the attention it deserved. His comments formed part of his appeal for support as he outlined the priorities he said he would pursue if elected.
Describing the situation in the state, Lado said, “what is happening in Katsina is very disastrous; it needs a concerted effort.”
He further criticised the condition of major sectors, listing education, healthcare, agriculture, insecurity and human and capital development. He said, “no sector is working in this state, from education and health to agriculture and security.”
