World Cup 2026: Canada Crash Out After Morocco Defeat
Canada’s World Cup campaign came to an end on Saturday after a 3-0 defeat to Morocco in the Round of 16, ending the co-hosts’ hopes of reaching the quarter-finals on home soil.

Despite entering the match as underdogs, Canada produced an encouraging first-half display and created several promising chances but failed to convert them.
Morocco made the breakthrough five minutes after the restart when Azzedine Ounahi unleashed a superb strike from outside the penalty area after being picked out by Achraf Hakimi from a free-kick.
The North Africans seized control from there and secured a convincing victory to progress.

The defeat ended a memorable tournament for Jesse Marsch’s side, which recorded two wins, one draw and two losses across five matches.
Canada impressed with a dominant victory over Qatar and a hard-fought Round of 32 win against South Africa but struggled to maintain their attacking threat in the knockout stages.

Canada also became the first of the three co-host nations to exit the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Morocco marched into the quarter-finals, keeping alive their dream of another historic run on football’s biggest stage.
