Reinier de Ridder Reveals Horrific Fight Week Forced UFC Division Change
Reinier de Ridder has revealed that the week leading up to his middleweight fight with Caio Borralho was the worst fight week of his career and convinced him to permanently leave the 185-pound division. De Ridder said he made the decision during his weight cut, telling himself he would never put his body through the process again.

The Dutch fighter was already coming off a stoppage loss to Brendan Allen when he faced Borralho in March. He suffered another difficult night, losing by unanimous decision, but insists he is not making excuses for the result. According to de Ridder, nothing went medically wrong or required hospitalization, but almost everything about the week went badly and the weight cut was even tougher than the one before his fight with Allen.
De Ridder has now moved up to light heavyweight and made an immediate impact at UFC Sacramento, stopping Roman Dolidze in the first round to return to the win column.

The former two-division ONE Championship champion will now look to build momentum at 205 pounds after deciding that the middleweight cut had become too demanding.
