Thunderstorms Disrupt Spain’s World Cup Final Preparations
Spain’s final training session ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final was thrown into disarray on Saturday after severe thunderstorms forced the team off the training pitch in New Jersey.

FIFA said the scheduled outdoor session at the Melanie Lane Training Ground was cancelled in line with United States weather safety regulations, leaving Spain without a final full session on the field before facing Argentina.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed that the players instead completed their warm-up and fitness exercises indoors, while no alternative outdoor training session was arranged.

The weather disruption comes less than a day before Spain takes on Argentina in one of the most anticipated World Cup finals in recent years, with both sides chasing football’s biggest prize.
FIFA did not immediately confirm whether Argentina’s training session, scheduled later on Saturday, would proceed as planned, as officials continued to monitor the weather conditions.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final will be played on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. local time (7:00 p.m. GMT).

The tournament, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, has produced a series of dramatic encounters, setting up a blockbuster final between European champions Spain and South American giants Argentina.
