Lamine Yamal Crowned La Liga’s Best Player at AFE Awards
Barcelona and Spain sensation Lamine Yamal has been named the best player of the 2025/26 La Liga season at the annual Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) Awards.
The prestigious gala, held at Florida Park in Madrid, saw the football world gather to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the domestic campaign.
The premier award is uniquely voted on by professional players across the league, highlighting the deep respect Yamal has earned from his peers on the pitch before even turning 20 years old.
The award serves as a crowning achievement for Yamal’s spectacular individual season, where his electric dribbling, playmaking, and crucial goals anchored Barcelona’s domestic campaign.
His relentless consistency and ability to deliver in high-stakes matches made him a near-unanimous choice among his fellow professionals.
In addition to the night’s headline award, the teenager also received a special Sporting Career Award to honor his rapid international success and vital contributions to the Spanish national team.
This latest accolade further solidifies Yamal’s trajectory toward the absolute pinnacle of global football.
Having already captured major international silverware and shattered numerous “youngest-ever” records, winning a player-of-the-year award voted on by his direct competitors marks a definitive shift from rising star to established world-class elite.
As the new football calendar begins, the focus surrounding the young winger now pivots to the upcoming global awards circuit, where he remains a heavy frontrunner for football’s highest individual honors.
