Russia Strikes Ukraine as Putin Rejects Peace Deal
Russia has launched another deadly attack on Ukraine, striking an ammunition storage facility near the capital, Kyiv, as reports indicate that President Vladimir Putin is unwilling to pursue a negotiated end to the war.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the missile strike targeted an ammunition depot in the town of Vyshneve, west of Kyiv, triggering massive secondary explosions that killed at least 10 people and damaged hundreds of homes.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the destroyed facility belonged to the state-owned defence company Ukroboronprom and announced that a criminal investigation had been opened into the incident.
He said officials found responsible for any negligence would face disciplinary action, including possible dismissal.
The attack has sparked public outrage, with residents questioning why an ammunition warehouse was located close to residential neighbourhoods and accusing authorities of failing to adequately protect civilians.
Meanwhile, prospects for a ceasefire appear increasingly uncertain. According to sources familiar with the Kremlin’s position, Putin has rejected renewed calls for peace negotiations and is instead expected to intensify Russia’s military campaign.
The sources said the Russian leader remains determined to secure full control of Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region and has dismissed suggestions of a settlement based on the current front lines.
The development comes despite recent diplomatic efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump, who held separate conversations with Putin and Zelenskyy and expressed optimism that an end to the conflict could be closer than many believe.

With both sides maintaining hardline positions, hopes for a breakthrough remain uncertain as the war continues.
