Simeone Sends Clear Message to Lookman Ahead of Real Madrid Derby

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has backed Ademola Lookman to play a key role when Atletico face Real Madrid in Sunday’s Madrid derby.

Simeone praised the Super Eagles forward’s ability in one-on-one situations and stressed that Atletico need him, regardless of how many minutes he plays. Lookman has scored once in seven appearances this season and is currently on a four-game scoring drought.

The Nigerian enjoyed a strong debut campaign after joining Atletico from Atalanta, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 24 appearances. He has also scored against Real Madrid and Barcelona since arriving in Spain.

With Atletico heading into the derby on the back of consecutive wins over Real Sociedad and Osasuna, Lookman will be hoping to rediscover his goalscoring form against their city rivals.
