‘I Won’t Advise Any Woman to Dig Less Than Gold’ — Bukky Wright Tells Ladies
Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has advised women not to feel guilty about having high standards or making financial demands in their relationships.
The actress spoke during a recent appearance on The Moraya Show, where she criticised men who quickly label women “gold diggers” simply because they expect certain things from the men they date.
According to Wright, the term itself should not be used to shame women.
“I hate it when I hear men calling women gold diggers. What do you expect her to dig before? I won’t advise any woman to dig anything less than gold,” she said.
The veteran actress also advised men to be realistic about the kind of women they pursue, arguing that a man should not enter a relationship with a woman whose expectations are beyond his financial capacity and later accuse her of making unreasonable demands.
“If you cannot afford a woman, don’t go for her. Go for the one you can afford,” Wright said.
She recalled that, while growing up, women did not always date men their age because of the question of what such men could offer at the time.
“I remember when I was growing up, we would not date our age mates because what can you offer?” she said.
Wright added that men should understand their financial limitations before pursuing women whose lifestyles and expectations are beyond their means.
“As a man, if you are dating somebody whose level is higher than yours, then you are in trouble. That is why I said, cut your clothes according to your material,” she added.
