NBA Owerri Branch Human Rights Committee Pays Courtesy Visit to 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze
Yesterday, the Vice Chairman of the NBA Owerri Branch and Chairman, Human Rights Committee, Dr. Ekezie K. Onumajulu (Speed), led a delegation of Committee members on a courtesy visit to the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze.
The delegation was received on behalf of the Brigade Commander by the Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. A. A. Jir, alongside Lt. Col. I. K. Oladip, A. M. Garba (Head, Military Police), and other members of the Brigade leadership.

Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the Brigade and the NBA Human Rights Committee, addressing complaints of harassment involving military personnel, and promoting respect for the rights of members of the public. The Brigade leadership expressed its openness to collaboration and assured that reported incidents of harassment would receive prompt attention.
The Committee also raised concerns over the practice of some personnel intervening in civil disputes and also the practice of requiring passengers to disembark from vehicles and trek past checkpoints. The Brigade undertook to escalate the matter to the Brigade Commander for appropriate consideration.
