U.S., Iran Exchange Fresh Strikes as Hormuz Conflict Enters Fifth Day
The United States and Iran exchanged fresh military strikes for a fifth consecutive day as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz continued to escalate. U.S. Central Command said it targeted Iranian command centres, air defence systems, coastal surveillance facilities, and missile and drone capabilities aimed at protecting the strategic waterway.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched missile and drone attacks on U.S. military assets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan. While officials in Kuwait and Jordan reported intercepting some of the incoming threats, the full extent of the damage could not be independently verified.
The latest escalation comes amid an ongoing dispute over freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.

Despite the renewed fighting, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf said diplomacy remains an option, while U.S. President Donald Trump urged Tehran to return to negotiations, warning that further military action remains possible if no agreement is reached.
