UFC Fighter Josh Hokit Sparks Backlash After Calling Michelle Obama ‘a Man’ in Post-Fight Interview
UFC heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit has drawn widespread criticism after making a controversial remark about former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama during a post-fight interview following his victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday.
Hokit secured a technical knockout win and appeared at the White House event for his post-fight media appearance.
During the interview with UFC commentator Joe Rogan, he thanked President Donald Trump for hosting the event before making a statement that quickly shifted attention away from his performance.
He said, “Michelle Obama is a man, am I right, America?” a comment that echoed a long-discredited conspiracy theory about the former First Lady.

Rogan ended the segment shortly after, responding, “Ladies and gentlemen, Josh Hokit,” as the broadcast moved on.
The remark immediately sparked backlash across social media platforms, with many users and public figures condemning the statement as offensive and inappropriate.
New Mexico Representative Melanie Stansbury reacted strongly on X, criticizing the fighter’s behavior and describing the comment as disrespectful. Jon Favreau, former Obama speechwriter and podcast host, also questioned the lack of accountability in response to the remark.
Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III also weighed in, calling the comment disgraceful and arguing that it reflected poorly on Hokit’s conduct during a major career moment.
The incident has since fueled wider debate online, with many users condemning the use of false claims in high-profile media appearances.
