England Hit by Equipment Theft Ahead of World Cup Opener
England’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been disrupted after training equipment was reportedly stolen ahead of their arrival at their base in Kansas City.
The incident occurred during the transport of team supplies from their pre-tournament camp in Florida to Swope Soccer Village in Missouri, where the squad is set to train ahead of their Group L opener against Croatia.
According to Kansas City police, an investigation has been launched into a suspected theft after a team vehicle arrived with missing items.
Authorities also confirmed that two suspects have been detained in connection with the case as inquiries continue.
British media reports indicate that the missing items include football boots, official match balls, and other training gear, although the Football Association has not confirmed the full extent of the loss.
The FA acknowledged that an incident took place but declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation and its cooperation with local law enforcement.
Despite the setback, England are expected to continue their preparations as planned under manager Thomas Tuchel, who is leading his first major tournament campaign with the national team.
The team remains one of the tournament favourites and is aiming to end its long wait for a major international trophy dating back to 1966.
England will begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 17, before facing Ghana and Panama in their remaining group-stage matches.
