Peter Obi Reopens the Debate on Nnamdi Kanu’s Fate

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has reiterated his position that a political and dialogue-driven approach remains the most viable path to resolving the case involving Nnamdi Kanu.

Obi said that if elected president, his administration would prioritize engagement and consultation in addressing sensitive national issues, including long-standing separatist agitations and regional grievances.

He maintained that durable peace can only come from tackling the root causes of unrest through dialogue, justice, and inclusive governance rather than relying solely on coercive measures.

The former Anambra State governor also stressed that national unity must be built on reconciliation and mutual understanding, noting that democratic societies should allow space for grievances while preserving law and order.

His remarks have once again stirred public discussion on how Nigeria should handle the Kanu case, reopening debates around political solutions versus legal processes in addressing separatist tensions, particularly in the South-East.
