Nigerian Players Kuti and Ojo Exit Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics Table Tennis

Nigeria’s Matthew Kuti and Favour Ojo have been eliminated from the table tennis event at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.

Ojo suffered her third defeat in a four-player group, while Kuti lost 0-3 to Italy’s Francesco Travesan after coming close to qualifying for the men’s singles knockout stage.

Only two African players, Algeria’s Tania Morice and Egypt’s Abdelmalk Elsayed, remained in contention among the 15 Africans who began the table tennis competition. They will hope to match or surpass Nigeria’s Ojo Onaolapo, who reached the quarter-finals at the 2010 Youth Olympics in Singapore.
