Victor Boniface Faces Backlash Over ‘Drop Out’ Reply to Fan Seeking School Fees
Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has come under heavy criticism on social media after telling a fan who asked for ₦100,000 to pay school fees to “drop out.”
The footballer made the remark in response to a message on Snapchat, and screenshots of the exchange quickly went viral.
The fan, who claimed to have supported Boniface for a long time, appealed for financial assistance to cover his school fees. Boniface replied, “As you dey follow me long time, you go know say I no go school. Follow my road, drop out.”
However, in a separate conversation, the striker responded more positively to another fan requesting money for a weekend outing by asking the person to send their account details.
The contrasting responses sparked widespread debate online. While many condemned Boniface’s comment, arguing that education should never be discouraged by a public figure, others defended him, saying he is under no obligation to pay anyone’s school fees and has the right to choose how he spends his money.
