Trump to Take Center Stage at 2026 World Cup Final
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that United States President Donald Trump will play a prominent role during the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including joining the trophy presentation ceremony after the match.
The final, scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, is expected to attract millions of viewers worldwide. According to Infantino, Trump will attend the showpiece event and stand alongside him as the winning team is crowned world champions.
Speaking in an interview with Fox & Friends, the FIFA chief said he and Trump would watch the match together before jointly handing over the coveted trophy to the tournament winners.
Infantino also praised the U.S. president’s involvement in preparations for the expanded World Cup, noting that close cooperation with the White House has been important to the successful organization of the tournament across North America.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner,” Infantino said, emphasizing the strong working relationship between FIFA and the U.S. administration.
The announcement comes after Trump’s appearance at the FIFA Club World Cup trophy ceremony generated widespread attention.
Following Chelsea’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain, the U.S. president joined the presentation and remained on stage during the team’s celebrations, creating one of the tournament’s most talked-about moments.

With the 2026 World Cup set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico, Trump’s participation in the final ceremony is expected to add further political and global attention to football’s biggest event.
