England Call Up 15 Nigerian Players, Former Super Eagles Star’s Son Included

England have handed international call-ups to 15 players eligible to represent Nigeria across their senior and youth teams for the first international break of the 2026/27 season.

Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha headlines the senior selection after earning a place in England’s squad for four UEFA Nations League matches against Spain, Czechia and Croatia.

The 18-year-old has one senior cap for England and could further commit his international future to the Three Lions if he features in the upcoming fixtures.

At Under-21 level, Everton winger Tyrique George and Arsenal midfielder Ethan Nwaneri were selected for England’s final three European Championship qualifiers against Kazakhstan, Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland.

Nwaneri has scored five goals and provided two assists in 15 appearances for England Under-21s and was part of the squad that won the 2025 European Championship.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Wesley Okoduwa, Arsenal midfielder Ifeoluwa Ibrahim and Chelsea forward Chizaram Ezenwata were named in England’s Under-19 squad for friendlies against the Republic of Ireland, Norway, the United States and Belgium.

Okoduwa is the son of former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Okoduwa, who represented Nigeria at the 2003 African Games.

England’s Under-18 squad includes Newcastle United’s Sam Alabi and Tottenham Hotspur’s Phoenix Offiah.

They will feature in the UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland against Colombia, Egypt, South Korea and another opponent yet to be confirmed.

Seven Nigeria-eligible players also made the Under-17 squad. They are Arsenal’s Vincent Joseph, Emmanuel Fejokwu, Prince Osifo, David Eze, Mishel Nduka, Toju Wellspring and Jai Nwosu.

The youngsters are scheduled to face Israel, Venezuela and Germany following a friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
