Daniel Rodriguez Breaks Silence After Devastating UFC Belgrade Knockout Loss
Daniel Rodriguez has spoken for the first time after suffering a devastating 30-second knockout loss to hometown favorite Uros Medic in the main event of UFC Belgrade. The defeat snapped his three-fight winning streak and was followed by a precautionary trip to a Serbian hospital.
In a message shared on social media, Rodriguez admitted Medic simply got to him first. “I loaded up on the jab, and he beat me to the punch,” he wrote. Although disappointed by the result, the welterweight said he remains proud of overcoming everything he faced over the past year to return to the UFC’s biggest stage.
Rodriguez revealed that his journey back to competition was far from easy after spending eight months in a Mexican prison following a marijuana-related border incident. He said he wasn’t in his best shape when he resumed training but still accepted the challenge of fighting Medic in front of his home fans.
Despite the painful loss, Rodriguez insists he will bounce back stronger. If medically cleared, he could return as soon as UFC 331 in Los Angeles or at Noche UFC, with the veteran determined not to let one defeat define the next chapter of his career.
