Rob Whittaker Returns Home for Sydney Showdown After 12 Years
After more than a decade away, former UFC middleweight champion Rob Whittaker is set to fight in Sydney again. The Australian will face Uzbekistan’s Bogdan Guskov at the UFC event scheduled for February 7, marking his first appearance in the city since knocking out Clint Hester in 2014.

The 35-year-old said he was excited that friends and family, including his children, would be able to watch him compete without travelling long distances. Whittaker’s return to Sydney follows a successful move from middleweight to light-heavyweight, where he made his divisional debut with a third-round knockout victory over Nikita Krylov in July, ending a two-fight losing streak.

Guskov, 34, brings a dangerous record of 18 victories, including 15 by knockout. However, Whittaker believes his years of experience have prepared him for the challenge. The Sydney card will be headlined by Perth lightweight Quillan Salkilld against Benoit Saint Denis, with Whittaker’s homecoming adding another major attraction to the event.
