Tinubu Vs Obi: Aisha Yesufu Picks Side With 7-Word Bombshell
Social activist Aisha Yesufu has picked a side in the renewed exchange between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, defending Obi after a video of Tinubu criticising him circulated online.
According to a post shared by Imran Muhammad on his official X account, Yesufu reacted to the video in which comments attributed to Tinubu questioned Obi’s record as governor and his ambition to become Nigeria’s president.
The president reportedly referred to the environmental problems affecting Anambra and suggested that the former governor had not adequately addressed them before seeking the country’s highest political office.
In the footage circulating on social media, Tinubu was heard criticising Obi over the continued existence of erosion problems in his former state.
His remarks brought renewed attention to the environmental challenges that have affected several communities across Anambra, including the destruction of roads, damage to residential properties and threats to residents’ livelihoods.
Tinubu Reopens Obi’s Anambra Record
The president’s comments also reopened discussions about Obi’s eight-year administration in Anambra State and the measures taken by his government to address environmental degradation.
Erosion has remained a significant challenge in different parts of the state, with affected communities continuing to face difficulties associated with soil displacement, heavy rainfall and the destruction of infrastructure.
The issue has attracted attention from residents, political commentators and other stakeholders who have repeatedly called for sustainable interventions to protect vulnerable communities.
Tinubu’s criticism has therefore added another dimension to the political discussions surrounding Obi’s record in public office and his ambition to lead Nigeria.
Yesufu’s 7-Word Bombshell
Reacting to the video and the remarks attributed to the president, Yesufu expressed support for the former Anambra governor, dismissing the criticism with a brief statement.
Rather than engage in a lengthy explanation, the social activist used her response to defend Obi’s personality and leadership credentials.
In her reaction, Yesufu wrote: “Peter Obi is who they wish they were.”
Her statement has attracted attention because it came amid renewed political exchanges involving Tinubu and Obi, two prominent figures associated with opposing political interests ahead of the next presidential election.
Although Yesufu did not provide specific details about the erosion control projects undertaken during Obi’s administration, her response made clear her disagreement with the criticism directed at the former governor.
