Djokovic Faces Paris Masters Pressure as ATP Finals Hopes Hang in the Balance
Novak Djokovic faces a crucial test at the Paris Masters as he fights to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin. The 39-year-old Serbian, a seven-time Paris champion, returns to the tournament for the first time since 2023, knowing that another early exit could jeopardise his chances of reaching the season-ending event.
Djokovic opens against Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot, who arrives in strong form after winning the Basel title. The Serbian’s qualification hopes have become more complicated following his early defeat to Jan-Lennard Struff in Basel, leaving him needing a deep run in Paris while monitoring the results of his rivals, including Alex de Minaur and Rafael Jódar.

Winning the Paris Masters would secure Djokovic’s place in Turin, while reaching the final could also be enough depending on other results. A semi-final finish would leave him needing additional help from rivals’ early exits. After reaching the Australian Open final and Wimbledon semi-finals this season, Djokovic now faces a decisive challenge as he seeks a return to the ATP Finals after missing the last two editions.
