Heavy Rain Forces Bangkok to Declare All 50 Districts Disaster Areas

All 50 districts of Bangkok have been declared disaster areas following heavy rain and flooding that disrupted traffic and daily activities across Thailand’s capital.

Authorities warned residents that water levels in several canals, already considered critical, could rise further. The declaration allows government agencies and local authorities to respond more quickly and coordinate relief efforts in affected communities.

Thailand’s Meteorological Department said the bad weather was linked to a strong low-pressure system and a strengthening southwest monsoon. More heavy rain is expected nationwide through Sunday, while Bangkok authorities said flooding could ease within six hours if no further rain falls.
