Principal, Four Students, NECO Official Kidnapped as Gunmen Invade Kogi School During Examination
Armed attackers stormed Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State on Tuesday evening, abducting the school principal, four students and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc official while candidates were sitting for their NECO examination.

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday by its spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat.
According to the police, the attack occurred at about 5:25 p.m., prompting a joint security team to immediately begin a rescue operation and launch a manhunt for the kidnappers.
Police said one of the abducted students has already regained freedom, while efforts are continuing to rescue the remaining victims and bring those behind the attack to justice.
The statement also disclosed that the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, accompanied by the Brigade Commander and the state’s Security Adviser, was heading to the school to assess the situation firsthand.
The command reassured residents that security agencies remain fully committed to rescuing those still in captivity and restoring normalcy to the area.

It added that more verified information would be released as investigations and rescue efforts continue.
