Tragedy in Canada as 4-Year-Old Nigerian Girl Dies After Road Accident

A four-year-old Nigerian girl, Rayna Chiziterem Okoli, has died after she was struck by an SUV in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on the evening of June 14 in the McConachie area of the city. According to police, Rayna was with her mother near the intersection of 66 Street and 170 Avenue when she suddenly broke away and ran onto the roadway.

She was hit by a Jeep travelling along the street, prompting immediate intervention from witnesses who rushed to assist and alerted emergency responders.

Rayna was taken to the Stollery Children’s Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities said the 23-year-old driver remained at the scene following the collision and is cooperating with investigators.

Police added that neither excessive speed nor impairment is believed to have played a role in the incident.

The case is currently being handled by Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigation Section.

Family members have described Rayna as a cheerful and affectionate child whose presence brought happiness to everyone around her. Her death has left relatives and loved ones struggling to come to terms with the loss.

As they mourn, the family is also facing the financial burden of funeral arrangements. A GoFundMe campaign launched in Rayna’s memory has begun raising support from friends, community members and well-wishers seeking to help the family through the difficult period.

In a message shared on the fundraising page, relatives said they were devastated by the sudden loss of their daughter and appealed for prayers and assistance as they prepare to give her a dignified farewell.
