Topuria Avoids Serious Injury After UFC Freedom 250 Defeat to Gaethje
Former UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria has reportedly avoided serious injury despite suffering a brutal defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250.

The highly anticipated title fight took place at the White House during celebrations marking the United States’ 250th anniversary and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
Gaethje pulled off a major upset by defeating Topuria and claiming the UFC lightweight title. The fight was stopped in the fourth round after Topuria absorbed heavy punishment, prompting his corner to throw in the towel following a medical assessment.
The severity of the injuries sustained by Topuria raised concerns among fans, with many fearing he may have suffered facial fractures after the one-sided beating.

However, fresh medical reports have provided encouraging news. According to reports from Spanish media, Topuria did not suffer any broken bones and did not require surgery following the fight.
Further reassurance came from a member of Topuria’s team, Inigo Perez, who confirmed that the fighter had been discharged from hospital and was recovering at home.
“Ilia is okay. He only has injuries that require recovery time after a tough fight. He is out of the hospital and at home,” Perez said.
Topuria also addressed fans through a social media post, congratulating Gaethje on his victory.
“Justin, congratulations. You said you’d leave your mark on my face, and you did,” Topuria wrote.
The former champion revealed that he lost vision in his right eye during the opening round and later struggled with his left eye as the fight progressed. Despite the setback, he insisted he was making no excuses and accepted the outcome as part of the sport.
Topuria also hinted that the rivalry is far from over, expressing his desire for a rematch with the new champion.
“We will have our rematch,” he declared.

The statement has already sparked excitement among MMA fans, who are eager to see the two fighters meet again inside the Octagon.
