They Are Hungry — Ayodele Blasts Bishops Endorsing Tinubu For 2027
The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has criticised bishops endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Ayodele, in a statement by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, alleged that some of the bishops were supporting Tinubu because they expected personal benefits from his administration.
He warned the president against being carried away by the endorsements, saying they would not guarantee victory in the 2027 presidential election.
“Bishops endorsing President Tinubu are hungry and looking for what to eat. They didn’t do that endorsement because they love Tinubu but because they need some things from him,” Ayodele said.
He alleged that the clerics were seeking government favours and advised Tinubu to be cautious about celebrating their support.
The cleric also rejected claims that the endorsements were based on divine instruction, accusing the bishops of invoking God’s name for personal interests.
“They are not doing it based on divine orders or God’s direction; there is no way God would give such direction. They are only lying on God’s name because of food,” he said.
Ayodele extended his criticism to politicians supporting Tinubu, saying some could abandon the president if their interests were not satisfied.
He said such politicians might switch allegiance and support another candidate if they failed to get what they expected from Tinubu’s administration.
The cleric urged Tinubu to focus on his performance rather than endorsements, saying his record in office would ultimately determine his chances in 2027.
“Endorsements mean nothing; it is only his activities that can either secure or make him lose a second term in office,” Ayodele said.
He advised the president to improve his administration and address Nigerians’ concerns instead of allowing endorsements to create excessive confidence ahead of the election.
