Samuel Chukwueze Undergoes Hip Surgery, Ruled Out of Nigeria’s AFCON Qualifiers
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has been ruled out of Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifying double-header against Tanzania after undergoing successful surgery in London for a hip injury. The AC Milan forward suffered the setback in October, interrupting an encouraging start to the season in which he recorded two assists in eight appearances across all competitions.

AC Milan confirmed that the operation was performed to repair a ruptured tendon in the tensor fasciae latae muscle of his left hip. Professor Ernest Schilders carried out the procedure, with Milan medical team member Stefano Mazzoni also present. Chukwueze is expected to return to Italy to begin his rehabilitation.

His absence leaves Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle with one fewer attacking option for the Tanzania fixtures. The 27-year-old will now focus on recovering fully before returning to competitive action.
