Nigeria’s Future Eagles Fall to Chile, Face Panama in Fight for 75th Place
Nigeria’s Future Eagles have suffered another setback at the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, losing to Chile 3-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in Thursday’s classification semi-final in Baku, Azerbaijan. The defeat ends their hopes of securing a higher classification finish, leaving them to battle for 75th place.
The Future Eagles had reached the semi-final after defeating Rwanda 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. However, they could not repeat that success against Chile, who edged them in the shootout after both teams scored three goals during regular time.

Nigeria will face Panama on Friday, October 30, at 8:30 a.m. Nigerian time at the Hovsan Competition Complex. After a difficult campaign, the young team will be hoping to finish the tournament with a victory and give Nigerian supporters something positive to celebrate.
