Joe Biden’s Cancer Spreads to Bones, Son Reveals
Former United States President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to his bones, according to his son, Hunter Biden, who disclosed the development in a BBC interview published on Saturday.
Hunter said his father’s condition had become painful and debilitating as he continues treatment for the disease.
“I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good, the cancer has spread,” Hunter said.
He added that the cancer had metastasised to Biden’s bones, describing the situation as difficult for the family.
“It’s very painful… very debilitating. Cancer is really hard. It’s really sad to watch,” he said.
Hunter, Biden’s only surviving son, also described his father as the centre of the family, praising him as a father, husband and grandfather.
“My dad is, to this day, the centre of our family. He’s the best father, the best husband, the best grandfather,” he said.
Biden announced in May 2025 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, months after leaving the presidency.
At the time, Biden said doctors expected him to respond to treatment and expressed optimism about his outlook.
“The prognosis is good, we’re working on it,” he said, while thanking people who had offered prayers and support.
The former president’s health became a major issue during the final months of his presidency and his 2024 re-election campaign.
Biden withdrew from the presidential race in July 2024 and was subsequently replaced as the Democratic nominee by then-Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost the election to Donald Trump.
Since leaving office, Biden has spent more time with his family while undergoing treatment.
