Gunfire Erupts Outside US Consulate in Toronto for Second Time in Four Months
Gunfire has been reported outside the United States Consulate in downtown Toronto for the second time in four months, although no injuries were recorded in the latest incident.
Toronto Police said officers were alerted by the sound of a gunshot early Monday and later found evidence that a firearm had been discharged outside the building on University Avenue.
A white sedan was reportedly seen leaving the area shortly after the shot was fired.
Police cordoned off the immediate area as investigations got underway. Authorities have not announced any arrest or identified a suspect in connection with the incident.
The latest shooting comes less than four months after several shots were fired at the same consulate on March 10.
It also follows a series of shooting incidents involving synagogues in the Toronto area.
In June, police said young people in the Toronto area were allegedly being paid to fire at various targets, including synagogues, Jewish schools and the U.S. Consulate.
Authorities have not said whether Monday’s incident is connected to the previous shootings.
No injuries were reported in the latest incident.
