Flamingos Thrash Niger 5-0 in WAFU B U17 Cup Opener

Nigeria’s Flamingos opened their 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls’ Cup campaign in style, defeating Niger Republic 5-0 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

Captain Harmony Chidi opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Awawu Bashiru doubled Nigeria’s lead. The Flamingos continued to dominate after the break, adding three more goals to complete a convincing victory.

Mary Dunstan and Ayomide Rotimi were among the second-half scorers as Nigeria maintained the attacking form that saw them net 14 goals in two warm-up matches before the tournament.

The Flamingos will face Ghana on Saturday as they continue preparations for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco later this year.
