Peter Obi Challenges Anambra Govt: ‘Prove I Left Debt, I’ll Stop Campaigning’

Peter Obi has challenged the Anambra State Government to prove that his administration left behind unpaid debts, salaries, pensions or contractor liabilities when he left office.

Reacting to claims that his administration inherited debts, including a N2 billion ecological loan, Obi said his government cleared more than N35 billion in historical gratuities and arrears and left no outstanding salaries, pensions or certified contractor payments.

On the ecological fund, the former Anambra governor said the N2 billion was released shortly before the end of his tenure for the Oko/Umuchiana erosion crisis. He said he deliberately left the money for his successor because it was tied to the specific project.

Obi also maintained that his administration left more than N75 billion in savings and declared that he would stop his 2027 campaign if anyone could prove otherwise.
