Oil Prices Tumble Over 5% After Trump Pauses Planned Iran Strike
Global oil prices dropped sharply on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a planned military strike against Iran had been suspended, easing fears of a wider conflict that could disrupt global crude supplies.

According to Reuters, Brent crude fell by 6.28% to $82.41 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped 6.22% to $79.40 per barrel during early Asian trading. The market reacted positively to the reduced geopolitical tension after concerns over a possible military confrontation had pushed prices higher.
Trump said the pause was intended to create room for renewed negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program and efforts to reopen shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.

The shift toward diplomacy reassured investors that immediate risks to global oil supply may be avoided, triggering the sharp decline in crude prices.
