Egypt Clash Blow as CAF Suspends Two Super Falcons Stars
The Super Falcons will be without two key players when they take on Egypt in their final Group C match at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) handed them suspensions.

Nigeria heads into the decisive fixture on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia, a result that revived the team’s hopes after an unexpected defeat to Malawi in their previous outing.
However, defender Oluwatosin Demehin and midfielder Jennifer Echegini have both been ruled out of the Egypt encounter for disciplinary reasons.
Demehin was sent off during the first half of the win over Zambia after receiving a straight red card for bringing down Barbra Banda, who was through on goal.
Echegini will also miss the match after picking up her second yellow card of the tournament. Under CAF’s disciplinary regulations, the booking carries an automatic one-match suspension.

The absence of the duo comes as Nigeria seeks the result needed to secure a place in the knockout stage of the competition.
