The proposal, linked to the FIFA Forward Enterprise initiative, reportedly faced strong resistance from football’s leading governing bodies over concerns about its structure and potential benefits.
Reports also claimed the arrangement could have financially benefited Infantino.
Although the 56-year-old is said to be determined to remain in office, support for his leadership is reportedly fading, with influential figures across world football increasingly losing confidence in him.
A source quoted by The Times described Infantino as a “dead duck,” claiming that discussions are already underway to identify potential successors should he step down.
The report added that both the English Football Association and UEFA have lost confidence in the FIFA president, further intensifying speculation that a change in FIFA’s leadership could be imminent.
