Zambia Demolish Egypt 6-0 to Secure Dominant WAFCON Group C Opener
The Zambia Women’s National Team launched their tournament campaign with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Egypt at the Rabat Olympic Stadium.
Head coach Nora Häuptle deployed a highly aggressive tactical structure that completely overwhelmed the Egyptian defense from the opening whistle.
The clinical, high-scoring performance immediately asserts the Copper Queens’ status as premier title contenders for the African crown.
Talismanic captain Barbra Banda spearheaded the offensive masterclass by netting a spectacular four-goal haul.
Veteran forward Racheal Nachula opened the floodgates with a confident 25th-minute penalty, before Banda took over with strikes in the 60th, 63rd, 87th, and 96th minutes.
Substitute Eneless Phiri also found the back of the net deep in stoppage time to complete the six-goal rout.
This massive goal differential shoots Zambia straight to the top of Group C ahead of tournament debutants Malawi.
The historic opening matchday leaves traditional giants Nigeria and Egypt pinned to the bottom of the standings without a point.
Zambia will now carry massive momentum into Saturday’s highly anticipated, heavyweight blockbuster clash against the wounded Super Falcons.
