A 16-year-old has been taken into police custody after a violent attack at a secondary school in southern Germany left several people injured on Tuesday, July 8.

The incident occurred at the Welfen-Gymnasium in Schongau, Bavaria, at about 12:50 p.m. local time, prompting a major emergency response.
More than 15 police patrol vehicles, along with other emergency personnel, were dispatched to the school as authorities secured the area.
