Jorge Masvidal Doubts Conor McGregor Will Return for Max Holloway Fight
Former UFC star Jorge Masvidal has cast doubt on Conor McGregor’s planned return to the Octagon, saying he does not believe the Irishman will make it to his scheduled fight against Max Holloway.

McGregor is expected to face Holloway on July 11 in a rematch that would mark his first UFC appearance in five years. The former two-division champion has been sidelined since suffering a broken leg during his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier.
Speaking in a recent interview, Masvidal said McGregor’s long absence from competition could make a comeback extremely difficult.
“I don’t think he’ll do it,” Masvidal said. “I hope he proves me wrong, but after being away for so long, it’s hard to get back into the routine and intensity required for top-level fighting.”

According to Masvidal, athletes who take lengthy breaks often struggle to regain the physical condition and durability needed to compete at the highest level.
He also questioned McGregor’s chances of success if the fight goes ahead, backing Holloway to win convincingly.

“If they fight, I’m picking Max all day,” Masvidal said. “He’s been active, fighting the best opponents in the world, while Conor has been away from the sport for years.”

McGregor’s last victory came in January 2020 when he stopped Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds. Since then, injuries and inactivity have kept him out of action.
The proposed rematch with Holloway has generated significant interest among MMA fans, but doubts remain over whether McGregor will finally make his long-awaited return to the UFC.

For now, the fight remains scheduled for July 11, with fans eagerly awaiting confirmation that both fighters will step into the cage.
