Shane Collins Defeats Otari Tanzilovi by Unanimous Decision at UFC Vegas 119
Shane Collins made a successful UFC debut on Saturday, earning a unanimous decision victory over fellow newcomer Otari Tanzilovi at UFC Vegas 119 in Las Vegas.
Both fighters entered the contest looking to make an impression in their first UFC appearance. Collins came into the fight unbeaten in seven professional bouts, while Tanzilovi had compiled a 10-1 record, with his only defeat coming on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024.
Tanzilovi started strongly, mixing leg kicks with takedown attempts and briefly putting Collins on the defensive. However, Collins quickly settled into the fight, applying constant pressure and landing effective strikes to the body. Although Tanzilovi secured several takedowns throughout the opening round, Collins repeatedly worked his way back to his feet and finished the round as the stronger fighter.
The second round followed a similar pattern. Tanzilovi managed more takedowns but struggled to keep Collins on the mat or generate meaningful offense from top position. Collins remained the more effective striker, using his jab, body shots and forward pressure to control the pace. He also defended well enough to prevent Tanzilovi from capitalizing on his wrestling advantage.
In the final round, Collins continued to push the action and target the body. Tanzilovi landed a few clean punches and secured another takedown, but Collins once again escaped and returned to his striking attack. As the fight entered its closing moments, Collins chased his opponent down with a steady stream of body shots and pressure, ending the contest on a strong note.
After three hard-fought rounds, all three judges scored the bout in Collins’ favor, awarding him a unanimous decision victory with identical scores of 30-27.
The win marks an impressive start to Collins’ UFC career and extends his unbeaten professional record, while Tanzilovi falls short in his promotional debut despite showing flashes of strong wrestling throughout the contest.
Official Result: Shane Collins def. Otari Tanzilovi via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
