Reigning Miss Austria Dies At 22 After Seven Heart Operations
Reigning Miss Austria Lucia Sisic has died at the age of 22 after years of living with a congenital heart condition.

Mission Austria, the organisation responsible for the Miss Austria and Mister Austria beauty pageants, announced her death on Monday.
The organisation described her death as a moment of “great shock and deep sorrow” but did not disclose the cause.
Sisic was crowned Miss Austria in 2024 and remained the reigning titleholder because no subsequent pageant had been held.
In a tribute, Mission Austria described Sisic as a “wonderful young woman” and expressed condolences to her family, friends and loved ones.
The late beauty queen had previously spoken publicly about her heart condition and the medical treatment she received throughout her life.
In 2024, she expressed gratitude to the doctors and medical staff who cared for her as a child and helped her through difficult periods.
Sisic underwent seven operations related to her heart condition during her lifetime, with her first surgery performed shortly after she was born.
She also revealed that her condition affected her childhood, preventing her from participating in activities such as school sports weeks.
Despite the challenges, Sisic pursued her ambitions and went on to win the Miss Austria crown in 2024.
Herzkinder Österreich, an Austrian charity supporting children with heart conditions, also mourned her death.
The organisation described her passing as untimely and said she had left the world “far too soon” at only 22.
The charity remembered Sisic as a warm-hearted and joyful young woman who showed courage while living with a congenital heart condition.

Mission Austria said Sisic would always remain part of the Miss Austria family.
